Getting your book up on the Kindle store is one thing. Making sure it sells is something else entirely. There are lots of authors who think that publishing their work is more than enough and money will immediately follow. This is an erroneous assumption! So, how can you get people interested enough in your book that they want to purchase it? Did you keyword optimize your eBook? You probably think that sounds stupid. Most people think that keyword optimization is just for search engine optimization and articles. The truth is that Google and Amazon’s search engines are not all that different. The spiders crawl for certain words and certain phrases within your eBook and your descriptions so that it knows how to match the book to the searches people perform within the store. You probably wrote about some highly targeted topics within your book. Be sure that you use at least some of the keyword phrases that are related to those topics within your book’s description. Didn’t you work to optimize your website for Google? The Kindle store uses the same criteria so do the same work on your eBook. Ask your customers to write a review of your book, especially if they bought your book early on. People are suspicious of books
with high sales figures and a low number of reviews, which means they aren’t going to be too keen to buy it. It is important, however, that you encourage your readers to be honest. While positive aspects are critical to any review, it’s just as important to mention any problems they had. Most people will think you paid for the reviews if all of them are totally positive. Honesty is always the best policy (and if you address the issues people share, you’ll earn respect from your readers, which is always helpful).
Buy some advertising space for your eBook on blogs. Advertising space is sometimes sold independently by some blogs. Others work with advertising portals like Federated Media and Izea.
